An Influential Generation (AIG) is a school-based peer education intervention that engages youth influencers (peer leaders) in high schools and peer learners in middle schools and elementary schools. AIG adopts a relational approach to increasing peer support within the school system to encourage conversations around substance use and informed decision-making. The intervention targets this population at a crucial stage of development to equip them with critical thinking skills that will benefit them through life.

The youth influencers are supported by virtual and in-person training tools and are accompanied by an adult mentor to facilitate 45-minute sessions in classrooms.

There are two versions of AIG: 1) A Conversation about Vaping, and 2) A Conversation about Alcohol.

An Influential Generation podcast was inspired by the success of youth engagement with the intervention. Through mentorship and support, the podcast empowers youth to lead conversations in the community on health related topics that are important to them.

Episodes are available on all podcast platforms.
